Can I Help the Appearance of My Eyes?

The eyes often show signs of aging early, because the eyelid skin tends to stretch over time, and the muscles also weaken, giving the face a tired appearance. So it’s not surprising that people are always looking for treatments that can help the appearance of their eyes.

Can I Help the Appearance of My Eyes?

Eyelid surgery or blepharoplasty can help the appearance of your eyes. Blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that is done to rejuvenate the eyes by removing excess skin on the upper eyelids, and bags below the eyes. Blepharoplasty is typically performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia.

Upper eyelid surgery

Upper eyelid surgery is usually done for cosmetic reasons. However, there are times when it is performed to address visual problems resulting from droopy upper eyelids that interfere with vision.

The incision for upper eyelid surgery is made along the natural crease of the eyelid, so any resulting scar is virtually indiscernible. Surgery involves removing excess skin, fatty tissue, and muscle as required.

Lower eyelid surgery

Lower eyelid surgery targets bags below the eyes, and the incisions are generally made along the line of the lower lid. During the procedure the surgeon will remove fatty tissue to reduce undereye bags. There are also instances in which excess skin may need to be removed to rejuvenate the area.

Blepharoplasty helps to combat signs of aging around the eyes, and makes the eyes look youthful and more alert (learn more).
