How Can I Restore My Hair?

Are you despairing about thinning hair?   Although losing your hair can be worrying, there are treatments available that can help regrow your hair. So, if you’re wondering how to restore your hair, we offer some effective solutions below.

What Causes Hair Loss?

Hair loss is a common problem that typically occurs due to genetics, fluctuating hormone levels, and aging.  While anyone can experience hair loss, it is more prevalent in men.

How Can I Restore My Hair?

Hair loss or hair thinning can be treated by regenerating dormant hair follicles that are responsible for hair growth.

PRP For Hair Loss

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses the injections of a concentration of platelets taken directly from a patient’s body to accelerate healing.  PRP has been widely used in medicine to assist with the repair of joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons, but recently emerged as a hair restoration treatment.

When used for hair loss, the activated platelets in PRP release growth factors that stimulate the stem cells in the root of the hair follicles.  This process helps to stimulate new hair growth and thickens existing hair.   The PRP formula is obtained by first taking a small amount of the blood from the patient, and then spinning it in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the rest of the blood.

Patients generally see some improvement within 2-3 months of PRP hair loss treatment.

Minoxidil (Rogaine) For Hair Loss

Minoxidil is an FDA approved for the treatment of male pattern baldness (MPHL) and female pattern baldness (FPHL).  It is an over-the-counter drug used to combat hair follicle miniaturization (shrinkage of the hair strand), which is a feature of MPHL and FPHL.

When Minoxidil is applied topically to the scalp, it stimulates hair growth. Most patients see results within 3-6 months.

If you are suffering from hair loss, you’ll be happy to know that hair restoration is possible with the right treatment.
