Are your breasts so large that they make you feel self-conscious or shy? If your breasts are so large that they are affecting your self-esteem, breast reduction surgery may be just what you need to improve your life. But it’s important to first find out if you would be a good candidate for breast reduction.
What is breast reduction surgery?
Breast reduction or reduction mammoplasty is a surgical procedure that is done to reduce the size and weight of the breasts by removing excess glandular tissue, skin, and fat. Breast reduction also improves overall body proportions resulting in a more flattering silhouette.
Plastic surgeons typically advise patients to wait until their breasts are fully developed, before undergoing breast augmentation, but it can be done earlier if required.
Am I a candidate for breast reduction?
If you have very large breasts that are causing medical issues such as back pain, shoulder pain, or tingling in the arms, it’s likely that you would be a good candidate for breast reduction.
Breast reduction can also resolve physical problems such as grooves in the shoulders caused by bra straps digging into the skin, and rashes under the breasts.
If your overly large breasts make it challenging to find clothes that fit, or force you to restrict physical activities, you may be a good candidate for breast reduction.
Breast reduction candidates should be in good overall health, and have realistic expectations about the procedure.
